Description
We only use natural gemstones which are cut to size in an elaborate process and sorted by hand in a multi-stage selection process. After the first multiple sorting, the stones are cut into a brilliant shape and polished, after which they are sorted again according to size, colour and purity. In order to fit the stones into a circle, 103 stones must be found that differ as little as possible from one another in terms of appearance. This requires a very well-trained eye that can recognise the finest differences. Once the stones for a circle have been put together, they are carefully placed in the setting by hand and fixed like a diamond. As a rule, a maximum of 1% of each rough stone can be used for our precious objects. In order to achieve the highest possible quality, all work is carried out by hand and by experienced specialists.
As few foreign inclusions as possible and a concise colour are the characteristics that correspond to our quality standard.
The typical colour of a peridot is orange to yellow, green, brown, violet, pink or even transparent black. It is available in all shades. Peridots are transparent and have a pronounced oily lustre. The colour of peridot can be described as yellow-green, green with a golden hue, olive or bottle green, deep green or simply a bright light green. The amount of iron present causes the shade and depth of green of a peridot stone; the deeper the green, the less the amount of iron present. Peridot is one of the few gemstones that is not routinely treated. Although it is not particularly brilliant (peridots have a medium to high brilliance), the richness of its colour can be exceptional and is completely natural. Because of its rarity, peridot is not usually seen in its deeper, purer shades of green, but newly discovered sources may change that. New sources include Arizona, Mexico, Oregon, Norway, Pakistan, Russia and Sri Lanka.
